課程概述 |
Landscape architecture is the profession providing land planning, design and management services for the purpose of improving the quality and character of the landscape. The profession is the application of cultural and scientific knowledge to institute change in the landscape that brings about the creation of functional, healthful and enjoyable places and for the protection and enhancement of the physical, ecological and aesthetic characteristics of the natural and built environment.
Landscape architecture is one of the few professional fields that integrate both artistic and the scientific skills and knowledge to create meaningful, useful places for people. The serious study of landscape architecture is a life-long exploration of the ever-changing needs of people as they interact with the dynamic features of the natural world.

課程目標 |
1. To introduce the breadth of landscape types within which landscape architects work. These types include: wilderness areas, suburban and rural regions, urban open space, urban infrastructure, streetscapes, public parks, private corporate plazas and residential gardens.
2. To introduce skills and explore ideas, tools and methods that landscape architects use to develop and convey landscape design proposals.

課程要求 |
Weekly Assignments: Questions and discussion topics from the content of the in class lecture and the extra readings will give in the end of each class. Students are expected to state their thoughts and opinions in a one page (A4) report. The report will be collected in the beginning of next week’s class.
Report Project:
Each student has to choose a Place, or a Landscape Architect, or a Landscape Architecture Works. Student is required to do the research about the chosen topic, and design a poster. Poster should be A1 size that will be composed of graphic material and written information concerning the selected topic by each student. The Poster should be informative and self-explanatory as well as graphically appealing and readable. Bibliography is required for the cited texts. Students have to submit & present the Poster in the presentation day, and submit a digital copy of the Poster to the TA.
